Torah Audio: Hear Every Word Chanted, at Any Speed
TropeTrainer plays any reading chanted aloud so you can learn the melody by ear. Listen to a whole aliyah, a single verse, one trope phrase, or word by word — at eight speeds from 0.25× to 2× — with the words highlighted as they’re sung.
Learn the melody the way it’s really transmitted
Cantillation has always been learned by listening and repeating. TropeTrainer brings that to any device: slow a tricky phrase down to a quarter speed to catch every note, loop it until it sticks, then speed back up to performance tempo — all while the text highlights along with the chant.
Four levels of granularity
Play by Aliyah to hear the whole section, by Verse to drill a pasuk, by Trope Phrase to isolate a single melodic unit, or by Word to nail a hard word — whatever level your practice needs right now.
How to use it
- Open a reading. Open any Torah, Haftarah, or Megillah portion.
- Choose a playback mode. Pick Aliyah, Verse, Trope Phrase, or Word depending on how closely you want to focus.
- Set the speed. Slow it to 0.25×–0.75× to learn, then build back up toward 2×.
- Listen and repeat. Follow the highlighted words and chant along until the melody is yours.
Frequently asked questions
Can I hear the Torah read aloud word by word?
Yes. TropeTrainer can play a reading by aliyah, by verse, by trope phrase, or word by word, with the words highlighted as they are chanted.
Can I slow the chanting down?
Yes. There are eight speeds from 0.25× to 2×, so you can slow a difficult phrase right down and then bring it back to full tempo.
Does the text follow along with the audio?
Yes. Word-level highlighting tracks the chant so you can see exactly where you are in the reading.
